About Me...

I have had horses for 35 years, and went through the Pony Club, competitions etc. as I grew up. I rode my pony to school, and did my paper round on her, mostly bareback and with a head collar!

When I was little, my father broke in my first and second ponies - with me giving them their first ride! As I got older, I did the next horses myself, and have since then broken in the majority of my own horses (with the notable exception of Sunny, the horse who brought me to natural horsemanship!).

Other people started to approach me about starting their horses for them, and I have done so, but unless they are committed to their horse’s further training, I won’t take the horse on.

There’s something very magical about being the first person to sit on and then ride a young horse, it’s entirely down to you how well or otherwise it goes!

In 1999 I started the Parelli system, and have graduated level 2. I am working towards level 3, and still have a few tasks left to be assessed.

In 2005 I went to La Cense Centre for Natural Horsemanship, France, for a six month residential study course on all types of horses. Here I was taught by Andy Booth, and was lucky enough to audit a 2 week colt start clinic by the master horseman Ray Hunt. At the end of the course I sat a 5 day assessment period, and qualified as an Equine Ethology Instructor. I have been teaching around the East Midlands since returning from France, and regularly write a natural horsemanship column for Equestrian Life Magazine.

In 2006 I attended a young horse starting clinic with Dave Stuart, to further my skills in this area.

I have taken numerous courses , clinics and lessons with this country’s top natural horseman, Dave Stuart,

I continue to develop my own horsemanship with my horses, still attend clinics by people such as Ken Faulkner, Charlotte Dennis etc, and sometimes take on problem horses to improve my understanding and skill levels.
